Heading South.

As age wearies us
we find
The wrinkles are
Not in our mind.

But instead etched
Across the skin,
Of a body that is
Well lived in.

But as things drop southwards
[You know what I mean]!
Our smiles remain
And memories dream.

Of all the ones
That we kissed,
And all the ones
That ‘dammit’, we missed

But there’s work to do
And wrongs to right
So with aching body
We rejoin the fight.

We girth our loins
and take deep breath,
And try to give
this world our best.

For Maya Angelou.  "Make yourself a rainbow.
